What is Ghee?

Labeled as a top food trend for 2018, you will be hearing and seeing Ghee everywhere. But what exactly is Ghee? Where does it come from? And what makes it so nutritional?


Ghee is a healthy fat made from grass-fed butter and is used in both cooking and in health maintenance.  We make ghee by cooking the butter using traditional Ayurvedic practices, removing all of the milk solids, water, and impurities. What’s left is a lactose-free, casein-free, and shelf-stable cooking oil that becomes solid at room temperature.

Ghee is a premium cooking oil that is ideal for high heat due to its flash point of 485 degrees. Ghee offers wonderful health benefits: high in vitamins A & D, promotes healthy digestion, and is extremely nourishing and healing for all tissues of the body. As a very versatile cooking oil and spread, it can be used as butter or in place of any oil in cooking.  It is great on pancakes and shines when frying an egg or roasting vegetables.  Because it has a very high flashpoint of 485 degrees, you can cook it at very high heat and not worry about oxidation. From a health perspective, ghee made from grass fed butter boasts the following health benefits for body and mind.
